Abandoned Checkouts

Abandoned checkouts occur when a customer adds items to their cart, enters their contact information, but leaves the checkout process without completing the purchase. Nevuto allows you to track these potential customers and reach out to them to recover lost sales.

How it Works

A checkout is considered abandoned when:

  • A customer adds items to their cart and proceeds to the checkout page.

  • They enter their email address or phone number.

  • They do not complete the payment within a certain timeframe (typically 1-2 hours).

Viewing Abandoned Checkouts

You can view your abandoned checkouts by navigating to Orders > Abandoned Checkouts. The list provides details such as:

  • Checkout Number: A unique identifier for the session.

  • Customer: The name or contact details of the potential buyer.

  • Items Count: The number of items left in the cart.

  • Status: Whether a recovery email has been sent, recovered, or failed.

Recovering Abandoned Checkouts

Sending a recovery email is one of the most effective ways to bring customers back to complete their purchase.

Manually Sending Recovery Emails

  • Navigate to Orders > Abandoned Checkouts.

  • Click on the checkout you wish to recover.

  • Select Send recovery email.

  • Review the details and confirm.

Automatic Recovery Emails

Note: Check your plan availability for automated features. Automated emails can be configured to be sent automatically after a specific period (e.g., 10 hours after the checkout was abandoned).

Why do customers abandon checkouts?

Understanding the reasons behind abandonment can help you improve your store's conversion rate:

  • Unexpected Costs: High shipping fees or taxes shown at the last step.

  • Complex Checkout: Too many steps or required fields.

  • Trust Issues: Lack of security badges or clear return policies.

  • Distractions: The customer simply got busy or lost focus.

Tips for Better Recovery

  • Personalization: Use the customer's name in the email if available.

  • Sense of Urgency: Remind them that stock might be limited.

  • Direct Link: Ensure the link in the email takes them directly back to their cart.

  • Incentives: Consider offering a small discount code to encourage completion.
