Pinterest Tag

What is the Pinterest Tag?

The Pinterest Tag is a piece of JavaScript from Pinterest that tracks what visitors do on your storefront after they click a Pinterest Pin or Ad. It powers Pinterest Ads Manager's conversion reporting, retargeting audiences and lookalike audiences — the three things you need Pinterest to know about if you're running paid campaigns there.

Pinterest is a high-intent discovery platform: people use it to plan purchases, wedding tables, home renovations and holiday gifts. If your store sells visually-driven products (fashion, home, beauty, food), the Pinterest Tag is how Pinterest Ads learn which Pins actually drive sales so they can keep feeding you traffic that converts.

How Nevuto handles Pinterest Tag

  • Nevuto injects the official Pinterest Tag (pintrk) into every page of your storefront as soon as you save the integration, configured with your Tag ID.
  • Pinterest's own SDK handles all tracking — page views, conversion events and audience-building are fired directly by pintrk without Nevuto modifying or intercepting them.
  • Conversion events (e.g. "checkout complete", "add to cart") are either auto-tracked by Pinterest's enhanced match algorithm or configured manually inside Pinterest Ads Manager. Nevuto only loads the base tag.
  • You can disable the integration at any time from the admin panel.

Add Pinterest Tag to your Nevuto store

  1. Log in to your Nevuto admin panel.
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  3. Click the Add button next to Pinterest Tag.
  4. Paste your Tag ID into the input field (a purely numeric value, typically 13 digits).
  5. Toggle the status to Active and click Save.

Done — the Pinterest Tag starts loading on your storefront immediately.

Where to find your Tag ID

  1. Sign in to business.pinterest.com and open Ads Manager.
  2. In the top-right, click Ads → Conversions (under the Ads menu).
  3. Open the Tag manager tab.
  4. If you don't have a tag yet, click Create Pinterest tag and follow the prompts.
  5. Your Tag ID is shown next to the tag — a 13-digit numeric value.
  6. Copy it and paste it into Nevuto's Tag ID field.

Test that it's working

  • Install the official Pinterest Tag Helper Chrome extension.
  • Open your storefront in the same browser — the extension icon should detect your tag and show it as firing on every page load.
  • Browse to a product page and add it to the cart; the Tag Helper should show pagevisit events firing in real time.
  • Back in Pinterest Ads Manager, open Ads → Conversions → Tag manager. The tag status should update to "Active" with a recent "Last fired" timestamp within a few hours of real traffic.

Troubleshooting

  • "Pinterest Tag is not configured correctly" on save: the Tag ID must be a purely numeric value, at least 10 digits. Paste only the ID, not the full snippet.
  • Tag stays inactive in Pinterest: confirm the integration status toggle is Active in Nevuto, the Tag ID matches the one in Pinterest Ads Manager, and that the storefront has actual traffic. Pinterest only marks a tag active once it sees real page views.
  • Conversions not recording: conversion events are configured inside Pinterest Ads Manager (e.g. triggering on a URL match of /checkout/success). Nevuto only loads the base tag — the conversion rules live in Pinterest.
  • Ad blockers: Pinterest's tag is blocked by most privacy extensions. Always test in a clean incognito window.
