Tawk.to

What is Tawk.to?

Tawk.to is a live chat and visitor monitoring tool that's genuinely free forever — no seat limits, no chat limits, no "upgrade to unlock" traps. You pay only if you want paid add-ons like hired agents or branding removal. For small merchants just getting started with live chat, it's the easiest way to add a chat widget to your storefront without signing up for a paid subscription.

Beyond chat, Tawk.to lets you see every visitor currently on your storefront in real time, send them proactive messages ("Hi! Need help picking a size?"), save canned responses, create departments and assign chats to different operators.

How Nevuto handles Tawk.to

  • Nevuto injects the official Tawk.to widget script into every page of your storefront as soon as you save the integration, pointing at the embed path you provide.
  • Tawk.to's own SDK handles the chat widget, visitor tracking and message routing — Nevuto doesn't touch or intercept any of it.
  • Widget appearance, greetings, pre-chat forms and operator hours are all configured inside the Tawk.to dashboard, not in Nevuto.
  • You can disable the integration at any time from the admin panel; the widget disappears from your storefront on the next page load.

Add Tawk.to to your Nevuto store

  1. Log in to your Nevuto admin panel.
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  3. Click the Add button next to Tawk.to.
  4. Paste your embed path into the input field. The expected format is propertyId/widgetId — two alphanumeric strings separated by a single slash, for example abc123def456/1xyz789qwe.
  5. Toggle the status to Active and click Save.

Done — the Tawk.to chat bubble appears on your storefront right away.

Where to find your embed path

  1. Sign in to your Tawk.to dashboard at dashboard.tawk.to.

  2. If you haven't added your storefront yet, click Administration → Channels → Add Property and fill in your site URL.

  3. Open Administration → Channels → Chat Widget.

  4. Copy the Widget Code Tawk.to shows you. Inside the snippet you'll see a URL that looks like:

    https://embed.tawk.to/abc123def456/1xyz789qwe

  5. The part after embed.tawk.to/ is your embed path — in this example, abc123def456/1xyz789qwe.

  6. Copy just that propertyId/widgetId portion (no https://, no embed.tawk.to/) and paste it into Nevuto's input field.

Test that it's working

  • Open your storefront in an incognito window. The Tawk.to chat bubble should appear in the bottom-right corner within a second or two.
  • Click the bubble and send a test message.
  • In your Tawk.to dashboard, open Monitoring → Visitors — your session should appear in real time.
  • Open Messaging to see the test message arrive and reply to yourself as an operator.

Troubleshooting

  • "Tawk.to is not configured correctly" on save: the embed path is wrong. It must follow the propertyId/widgetId shape (two alphanumeric parts, single slash, no scheme). Strip everything before and including embed.tawk.to/ when you copy from Tawk.to's widget code.
  • Chat bubble doesn't appear: confirm the integration status toggle is Active in Nevuto and the embed path exactly matches the one in Tawk.to → Administration → Channels → Chat Widget.
  • Bubble shows but messages don't arrive: check that at least one operator is online in Tawk.to → Monitoring. If no one is online, visitors can still leave messages but they won't generate an alert.
  • Widget looks wrong: widget colours, position and pre-chat forms are configured inside Tawk.to → Administration → Channels → Chat Widget → Appearance, not in Nevuto.
  • Ad blockers: most privacy extensions allow chat widgets by default, but aggressive ones can block Tawk.to. Test in a clean incognito window.
